Employee Spotlight: Getting to Know Henrique Sauer

Henrique, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a Security Engineer based in Brazil, passionate about solving complex cyber security challenges and helping organizations stay ahead of evolving threats. My journey in cyber security started early, and since day one, I’ve been driven by curiosity and the desire to make a real difference. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work across different technologies and environments, which has shaped both my technical skills and my perspective.
I’m someone who believes in discipline, learning from mistakes (mine and others’), and constantly pushing myself to grow — both technically and personally. I keep my goals clear and well-defined, and I’m highly focused on achieving them through consistent, intentional effort. For me, having a plan and staying committed to it is what turns ambition into real progress. I want to be successful.
What led to your decision to join Check Point?
I’ve always admired Check Point for its leadership in cyber security and innovative mindset. I actually started my professional journey learning about cyber security through Check Point solutions, which was the foundation for my career. Even when I worked at other companies, I always had a deep appreciation for Check Point’s technology and approach. Joining the company felt like coming full circle — a chance to contribute to a brand I’ve respected since the very beginning. Our security solutions are truly unmatched, and I’m proud to be part of a team that delivers such high-impact protection to organizations around the world.
What is your current role and what does a typical day look like for you?
I’m a Security Engineer responsible for supporting customers across Brazil. My role is a mix of technical deep dives, architecture design, workshops, and being a trusted advisor — which, at the end of the day, is exactly what I aim to be for our customers.
Every day is different, and that’s what I love about it. I also put a strong focus on building long-term relationships with our clients. One of the things I value most in my role is the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with some of the most brilliant cyber security professionals in the industry — people who have been in this field for decades and are truly among the best in the world. Many of them are part of some of the largest and most strategic companies in Brazil, and collaborating with them constantly pushes me to raise the bar and stay sharp.
If we stop and think for a moment — these professionals are responsible for protecting massive organizations, and if they fail, the consequences could be felt on a national scale, potentially impacting the country’s economy. So the responsibility they carry is enormous, and being able to contribute to their mission and support them in such critical efforts is not only a challenge — it’s a privilege that I am genuinely proud of.
And none of this would be possible without the incredible support I receive from my leadership and colleagues. Knowing that I can count on a strong, collaborative team makes all the difference — it gives me the confidence and backing to go further, act faster, and deliver real results when it matters most.
What are you most proud of personally and professionally?
Professionally, I’m proud of many things — especially looking back at last year, my first year at Check Point. I achieved over 160% of my quota, which is great on paper, but the real pride comes from what’s behind that number. There were customers who were feeling dissatisfied, and we were able to turn the relationship around. There were others where we built trust from the ground up, helped improve their security posture, and stood by them during real incidents — including full-scale cyberattacks. I’ve joined war rooms in real time, working side by side with customers under pressure, helping them stop threats before they caused further damage. I remember one case in particular — a company that wasn’t even a Check Point customer reached out during an active ransomware attack. I jumped in, helped them contain the threat, and got their operations — spread across three different countries — back online in just a few days. That kind of moment is what makes it all worth it. That’s what makes my day.
Personally, I take pride in being someone who embraces responsibility and growth. I’m deeply committed to becoming the best version of myself, improving every day 1% and being better the I was yesterday — and that means constantly learning, staying humble, and doing everything I can to build a meaningful and successful life.
One of the principles I live by is: Learn from others’ mistakes, and if you must make your own, do it fast, take ownership, correct it, and grow from it — because that’s how you avoid repeating it.
Another belief that drives me is that discipline is the ultimate equalizer. It levels the playing field. These days, it doesn’t matter where you come from or who you are — if you’re disciplined, nothing can truly stop you.
What can we find you doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family — which is especially meaningful now, as we’re growing this year. Becoming a father has truly transformed my life and given me a new sense of purpose and perspective. It’s been a beautiful and exciting new chapter.
I also cherish spending time with my wife. At the end of the day, she’s the one who’s always by my side — supporting me through tough moments and helping me navigate life’s most important decisions. Having her in my corner means everything.
When it comes to sports, I’m passionate about endurance training. I run, cycle, swim, and go to the gym regularly. Last year, I had a serious knee injury that kept me from training for a long time — almost a full year without running and cycling. I’ve only been back to training for about a month now, and next week I’ll be participating in a half marathon — a big personal milestone considering the recovery journey. I’m also signed up for the Valencia Marathon later this year, and my long-term goal is to complete an Ironman. Staying active helps me stay focused, grounded, and mentally sharp.
