Vanessa, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m a proud Texas native with a passion for learning and helping others grow. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Master’s in Management and Administrative Sciences, which led me to a career in training and development. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in instructional design, eLearning development, curriculum design, and training facilitation—basically, all things learning! I’m also certified in these areas because I believe in always sharpening my skills. Outside of work, I’m an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., where I enjoy giving back to the community and building strong connections.

What led to your decision to join Check Point?

Before joining Check Point, I spent about 10 years running my own business as a vendor for the state of Texas. My work focused on helping clients from the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services find meaningful employment through vocational rehabilitation. During that time, I taught myself—mostly with the help of YouTube—how to design eLearning courses and write training manuals. That hands-on learning experience fueled my passion for instructional design and helping others grow.

When a recruiter from Check Point reached out about an e-learning position, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve always been someone who looks for ways to learn something new every day, and with little prior technical knowledge of internet security, I was fascinated by the vast world of cyber security. Joining Check Point was, without a doubt, the best career move I’ve made!

What is your current role and what does a typical day look like for you?

I currently manage the training business program for the Americas, supporting a network of approximately 40 training partners across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. I also oversee the global Technical Certifications program, which serves a community of over 35,000 certified cybersecurity professionals. Beyond that, I’ve been deeply involved in web marketing and business portal development, building workforce development alliances, and industry analyst initiatives for the Infinity Global Services (IGS) team.

A typical day for me is a mix of meetings with training partners and internal project teams, building strategic alliances with workforce development organizations, and identifying innovative ways to expand our training programs and awareness of our IGS offerings. Every day brings new opportunities to grow our reach, strengthen partnerships, and support the next generation of cyber security professionals.

What are you most proud of personally and professionally?

Personally, I am most proud of the journey my life has taken. I’ve been blessed with an incredibly beautiful community of family and friends, unforgettable travel experiences, and a career that truly fulfills me. But above all, my greatest joy is being the mother of a remarkable young man.

Professionally, I take immense pride in how my strengths—creativity, positivity, adaptability, and an ever-curious hunger for knowledge—have evolved, especially at Check Point. Here, I have the opportunity to share my ideas, work with a leader who truly listens, and make a meaningful impact on initiatives that contribute to the success of our organization. Being in an environment that values innovation and growth makes my work all the more rewarding.

What can we find you doing outside of work?

Outside of work, you’ll likely find me indulging in my love for shoe shopping, exploring interior design stores, discovering new foodie spots, or traveling with friends. I also stay active in my sorority, working on initiatives that make a difference in the community. But above all, I cherish spending quality time with my favorite person—my son!
