Katrin Bauer is a channel manager based in Vienna, Austria. Read on to learn more about Katrin’s career journey and story.

Katrin, tell us a bit about your background and role at Check Point. What does your day-to-day look like as a channel manager?

Every day in my role is different, and that’s what I love about it. Whether it’s tackling new challenges, helping new customers, or supporting our partners, no two days are the same. While this variability can be demanding, it also keeps things exciting. There’s always something new to learn, and that keeps me on my toes.

What do you like about working in the channel and at Check Point?

I find great fulfillment in the dynamic nature of my role on the channel team. There is always a fresh challenge to take on, something new to learn, and colleagues to support. It’s not always easy, but it’s definitely rewarding. I’m lucky to be part of an amazing team here at Check Point in Austria. We genuinely support and collaborate with one another as a cohesive unit, which makes the challenges worthwhile.

Did you have a career mentor who inspired you to become who you are today? If so, who was it and why?

I’ve been fortunate to have several mentors along the way. My husband, with his deep IT knowledge, has been a great source of advice. And here at Check Point, my colleague Sylvie has been a fantastic guide. These relationships have really shaped my journey, and I’m grateful for their support.

What challenges do women still face today? Why is it essential that more women are represented in leadership roles?

I think the two biggest hurdles women face are finding work-life balance and breaking through outdated gender stereotypes. Many of us still carry a heavier load when it comes to caregiving, and the persistent misconception that certain fields like computer science are better suited for men is something we need to change. It’s so important to have diversity of perspectives because everyone’s experience brings something valuable to the table.

Do you have any advice for the next generation of women?

My path to this role hasn’t been straightforward. At one point, I stepped away from my studies after being discouraged by a university administrator who questioned whether women, including me, belonged in computer science. But I found my way back and now I’m working in the field I’m passionate about, learning new things every day, and connecting with customers. My advice is to never give up on your goals, no matter the setbacks you may face.
