One of the main advantages of Check Point Harmony SASE is our focus on providing fast deployment that allows our customers to establish a secure cloud network and onboard users in less than an hour. Of course, fast deployment is a relative term depending on the size of your company.

Startups and small businesses can get up and running extremely fast. However, if you’re a company with 6,000 employees spread across multiple geographic locations worldwide, the stakes are higher and therefore things take a little more time. Even so, with Harmony SASE a mid-sized enterprise can still onboard their users in a matter of days.

Here’s the story of one such company.

Abandoning the Legacy Ship

The situation was dire for an American energy solutions manufacturer. A critical flaw uncovered in their legacy access control equipment meant an extensive patching and maintenance overhaul, and even then, it wasn’t guaranteed the flaw would be fixed.

Following the best advice for an emergency of this magnitude, the company decided it was time to abandon their legacy equipment for a more flexible, cloud-based solution. That’s where we stepped in.

At first, they tested Harmony SASE with a small proof of concept. A week later, the company decided Harmony SASE would suit their technical requirements as a 1:1 replacement for their legacy solution.

The big attraction to Harmony SASE was of course deployment speed, as well as easy integration with existing solutions and the simplified architecture that would make management and visibility easier.

A week after the POC, the company had multiple virtual cloud networks running. This provided even greater segmentation than using a large set of firewall rules across a single, large network.

They also added custom tunnels for better connectivity, split tunneling rules, agentless zero trust access for specific applications, secure Internet access to protect against malicious sites and malware, and a wide end user deployment including Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile.

The company did this major deployment within a week, expanding from a few hundred users to more than 3,000—with more to come.

This is the power of a cloud-based SASE solution built with security and user experience in mind. That latter part is crucial since it will influence so many future decisions. A better user experience for IT administrators means easier visibility and reduced chances for an unintentional security gap.

Given the demands of hybrid work and access to cloud-based resources, the traditional perimeter-based methods aren’t as ideal for remote access. Instead, you need a cloud-based network with multiple locations around the world to enable your team to have a high-performance connection no matter where they are.

Your access rules should embrace a zero-trust framework. Access to every application or resource must be based on user need, and combined with additional measures, such as device posture checks, to ensure that the managed device meets company security requirements before gaining network access.

And for unmanaged devices, connect them to the applications they need using agentless ZTNA where all access happens via a secure web portal.

Harmony SASE is part of the Harmony Workspace family of products that provides 360-degree threat prevention. It includes SASE, SaaS protection, email security, endpoint and mobile protection, and in-browser security.
