Enhanced Link Rewriting Support for Plain-Text Emails
Check Point Email Security now gives administrators greater control over how Click-Time Protection handles URLs in plain-text emails.
Plain-text emails present a unique challenge for URL rewriting because they do not contain embedded hyperlinks. Instead, URLs appear directly in the message body, and replacing a short URL with a rewritten one can impact readability and formatting. This release introduces new options that let administrators choose the behavior that best fits their organization’s needs.
Administrators can now configure how Check Point Email Security processes URLs in plain-text emails protected by Click-Time Protection. In addition to the existing behavior of rewriting URLs directly in the email, two new options are now available. Organizations can choose to automatically convert plain-text emails into HTML before applying standard URL rewriting, preserving a cleaner reading experience, or they can skip URL rewriting entirely for plain-text emails.
These new configuration options provide greater flexibility for balancing security, usability, and email presentation. Organizations that prioritize the strongest Click-Time Protection experience can benefit from HTML conversion before rewriting, while those that prefer to preserve the original appearance of plain-text emails can choose to leave URLs unchanged. Administrators can now select the approach that best aligns with their security policies and user experience requirements.
To configure this setting, navigate to Security Engines > Click-Time Protection > Plain Text and select the desired behavior.
This feature is being gradually deployed and will be available in customer portals over the next 7 days.
