Extending SASE Protection Into the Browser
If you want to protect your remote workers one of the best places to start is the web browser. It’s the primary portal to our workday for accessing everything from files to SaaS applications or just browsing the web.
That’s why we recently added significant browser protection to Harmony SASE Internet Access. Whether you’re looking to prevent phishing attacks, reuse of corporate passwords, or digital leaks, we’ve got you covered. Backed by ThreatCloud AI, Check Point’s industry-leading threat prevention technology, Internet Access Browser Security improves the security of your remote and in-office workforce.
Browser Security Main Features
Browser Security supports a wide range of critical security capabilities that focus on user actions. This enhances security for the user and the network in general.
Browser Security supports:
- Password Reuse Prevention
- Zero-day phishing attack protection
- File sanitization
- Safe search
- Sandboxing
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
These capabilities can be divided into two major groups: Human Error Protection and Advanced Threat Prevention.
Human Error Protection
Your workforce is great, and the awareness training your security team instituted really helps, but did you know that 74% of all breaches are attributed to human error including social engineering? [1]
Sometimes your people need a little extra help to stay secure.
Take password reuse: Single Sign-On has gone a long way to reducing the need to remember multiple passwords. There are still times, however, when people will need to sign up for a service outside of the SSO. When that happens it’s tempting to use the tried-and-true corporate password that’s already memorized.
But that’s a huge mistake. Credential theft is one of the leading causes of breaches, and the threat of credential theft only increases the more you reuse passwords.
Browser Security helps your workforce avoid this temptation by preventing them from reusing a password they’ve already used for work.
Another human error (intentional or otherwise) occurs when people move company data to places they shouldn’t. To help combat this, Browser Security includes data loss prevention (DLP), which monitors several common ways that private company data can leave the company. This includes scanning file uploads and downloads for more than 800 pre-defined sensitive data types—or you can define your own. Browser Security also checks for copy/paste actions to Generative AI sites such as ChatGPT or Claude.
Browser Security also employs Check Point’s Zero-Phishing technology to identify and block both known and unknown phishing sites. Within the browser we analyze page visuals, text, domains, and more. If the site is malicious, the user is simply blocked from entering their credentials.
Advanced Threat Protection
Social engineering may be something you can act against, not so with advanced threats. This is the tricky stuff that’s hiding in a file download, a web ad, or any number of other delivery methods.
That’s where Browser Security’s advanced protection comes in. We can prevent problematic file downloads with file sanitization. This feature allows your workforce to still get the files they want but without the built-in threats. Every file downloaded through a browser is sent to the Threat Emulation sandbox to inspect for malware. Simultaneously, Check Point’s Threat Extraction offers an industry-leading Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology, which delivers a sanitized version of the file to the user in milliseconds. Together these technologies block all known vulnerabilities including the NSA’s Top 25 CVEs keeping your workforce safe.
