Katya, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Minnesota, and I’m currently an Account Manager living in Minnesota, where I was born and raised.
What led to your decision to join Check Point?
In my last job, I worked as a Sales Engineer for a networking and connectivity company that primarily focused on Layer 2 ruggedized ethernet switches and industrialized cable and robotics equipment. However, they also had a cyber security solution, which introduced me to the world of cyber.
Soon after, I realized that I wanted to pursue a long-term career in this industry. I narrowed my search down to a handful of companies in the industry. Check Point caught my eye for a few reasons: I was intrigued by its Israeli roots, but I also felt, from the little I had gathered via research and the interview process, that the culture would be a good fit for me. So, I applied for a position, and the rest is history!
What is your current role and what does a typical day look like for you?
I’m an Account Manager focusing on strategic accounts in the Bold North region. Every day starts with a hot cup of coffee! From there, my schedule varies depending on the week and the tasks at hand. Most of my week is spent meeting with customers, partners, and prospects, whether in person or virtually. Between those meetings, there are many internal sessions that take place alongside my sales engineer, overlays, and other team members to ensure we are working together to meet our customer’s expectations.
What are you most proud of personally and professionally?
Personally, I’m most proud of the relationships that I’m fortunate to have in my personal life – including my husband, family, and close friends. They are the true joy in my life. Professionally, I’m very proud that I’ve consistently challenged myself, from the very early start of my career to now, to always strive to be a better version of myself each and every day.
What can we find you doing outside of work?
It depends on the season! In the summer months, I enjoy spending weekends at my family’s lake cabin. I also thoroughly enjoy golfing and spend much of my summer free time at the course. In the cooler months, I enjoy playing outdoor hockey and snowboarding! Year-round, my favorite hobby is training for triathlons, which takes up the bulk of my free time in all four of the Minnesota seasons! And I would be remiss to leave out the time spent with my sidekick, right-hand man, and German Shepherd, Bo.
