As we mark the one-year anniversary of Check Point’s U.S. Active Military, Veterans, and Allies Employee Resource Group (ERG), we reflect on the profound impact this initiative has had on our workplace community. Designed to cultivate an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for veterans and their allies, the ERG has spotlighted the exceptional qualities veterans contribute to our team, including leadership, resilience, and a commitment to service. Over the past year, the ERG has provided a space for veterans and non-veterans alike to connect, share their experiences, and support one another through meaningful discussions and community outreach.

Through our community engagement, we are excited to announce two new partnerships. The first is with the Women Veterans Business Center, an educational charity operating since 2010. This center welcomes women veterans (of all branches) and military spouses. It supports its community by offering relevant training and courses to help them start their own businesses. Marylyn Harris, Founder and Executive Director of the Women Veterans Business Center, is herself a U.S. Army Nurse and Gulf War Veteran. Ms. Harris has traveled nationwide to recruit and train aspiring entrepreneurs and was honored at the White House by President Obama and VA Leadership as a National Champion of Change. Harris highlights:

“We are honored to be part of the Check Point Family and offer training, and cyber security opportunities to Women Veterans and Military Families.”

Our second collaboration is with CyberVets.org, an organization dedicated to equipping military personnel with the tools and resources necessary to successfully transition into the cyber security workforce. CyberVets.org offers a completely virtual program designed to aid military members in their shift from active duty to civilian employment opportunities, with a strong emphasis on cyber security skills. The organization also features a supportive mentorship program alongside its training.

In celebration of the ERG’s one-year milestone, we are proud to spotlight two veteran employees who have significantly shaped our community:

Adam Perone, Territory Manager at Check Point

Adam Perone notes that Veteran’s Day holds a special place in his life, which he sets aside to reflect on his service and the service of others who have fought to protect the freedoms we cherish. Adam adds that it provides him with the ability to reflect on his patriotism, the love he has for this beautiful country and the service of others who have signed a check made payable to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their life. To him, Veteran’s Day showcases how different generations of Americans were able to rise up against external and internal threats to protect the U.S Constitution. Moreover, Veteran’s Day highlights the bravery and sacrifice of servicemen and servicewomen who have answered the call on America’s behalf time and time again.

Adam’s time in the United States Marine Corps, especially during Operation Iraqi Freedom, profoundly shaped him. As one of nine children from a family that struggled financially, he witnessed his father’s battles with PTSD from his Vietnam War service, yet he instilled in him a guiding principle: “You live for God and Country.” Serving in his father’s honor gave him purpose and taught him core values. Adam adds that the Marine Corps taught him the importance of building strong relationships to accomplish any mission—a lesson he carries into his work today.

His guidance for all veterans, particularly those shifting from active service into the public sector, is to be resilient. “Never lose focus or line of sight to the target despite the obstacles that will be thrown your way. Keep your eyes on the mission and don’t let rejection sway you from your ultimate goal. Cyber security is only necessary because of the war that goes on all around us daily and you are needed in this fight!”

Jordan Marshall, Associate Security Engineer at Check Point

For Jordan, Veteran’s Day is a day to reflect and give gratitude to those who have served our country. Having served in the military, Jordan notes that it brings to mind the deep bonds he formed with individuals who were once strangers but became close family through their shared experiences. He says that Veteran’s Day is also a time to honor those who have served and those who continue to serve, appreciating the sacrifices they’ve made for our freedoms.

Jordan’s military experience has significantly shaped who he is today, instilling in him the values of discipline and resilience that he carries into every endeavor. The soft skills he developed—teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—have been invaluable in the tech industry, especially in cyber security. To young veterans pursuing a career in this field, Jordan advises that they explore the many paths within cyber security and choose the one that sparks the most interest.

This Veteran’s Day, Jordan hopes that people remember and honor veterans by showing genuine support. He concludes by sharing that, “sometimes, a simple thank you for your service can make all the difference.”

Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, we remain devoted to our veterans and the continued growth of the ERG. Together, we can ensure that Check Point remains a place where everyone can succeed and feel valued. We are committed to building on the foundation we’ve established over the past year, and we look forward to deepening our support for community veteran associations in the years to come.
