Automatically Block Emails Containing QR Codes
Administrators can now configure Harmony Email & Collaboration to treat every email with a QR code as Phishing.
QR codes have become a common component in phishing attacks. Many email security solutions don’t scan QR codes and they are usually opened on end users’ mobile devices, which are less protected than their desktop/laptop.
Harmony Email & Collaboration already inspects URLs behind QR codes and even re-writes them if it decides to deliver the email to the end user.
We now introduce a new option for more conservative organizations – completely blocking emails that contain QR codes.
With this new option, administrators can decide to treat all emails with QR codes in their body as Phishing or the Suspected Phishing emails.
To do that, go to Security Settings > Security Engines > Anti Phishing > Configure > Emails containing QR codes and select between the default option (inspect URL behind QR code) and the Phishing/Suspected Phishing workflows.
Note – this feature is being deployed gradually. You should see it in your portal in the next 7 days.
